GALLOWAY BEEF

We decided to invest in a Galloway herd to re-introduce cows on the fell. They aid in the natural processes of grass regeneration which is needed to keep the fells in good condition.

Some Of Our
Galloway Cattle Grazing Peacefully On The High Fells At Wasdale Head

If you have walked along from Red Pike to Doorhead and beyond you might have seen them, grazing on High Fell. They are an extremely hardy breed and are the ideal cattle for the environment that they manage - plus, they really enjoy living there. Our herd are black with the occasional dun.

Zanton, our pedigree bull, came from the Nether Rusko herd at Castle Douglas and has so far produced some fantastic calves, as you can see in the pictures. The flavour of the meat is exceptional, especially if hung correctly, usually up to three weeks. It is also a lean meat and contains essential omega oils.

Because we supply direct to the public we can pass the savings on to you, the consumer.

THE GALLOWAY BREED

The Galloway is one of the oldest and purest of our native cattle breeds, originating in the Galloway area of south west Scotland. They have a double coat which keeps them warm and dry in the harshest of conditions, and they're smaller and more compact than many other breeds. They are also famous for their outstanding mothering qualites. The meat is succulent and must be tried!
